Swiss American lyric Tenor Gilbert-Michel ROLLE ‘s international career led him to perform in the United States, France, Germany, Switzerland, The Caribbean, Bulgaria and Russia to great acclaim. After his successful Carnegie Hall début,he began a career as a recognized interpreter of Italian arias, Oratorio, German Lieder, American Art Songs and French Songs. The Carnegie Hall concert entitled “Musical Voyage” inspired a tour throughout North America including New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, Princeton and Las Vegas. It evolved into his first CD with orchestra recorded at the historic Town Hall in New York. Gilbert-Michel Rolle began his musical journey at the Fribourg Conservatory. After He received his Masters degree at the University of Fribourg, he moved to Paris and enrolled at La Sorbonne where he earned an additional Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies in 19th C. Paris Opera. Concurrently, he studied at L’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris while working on his vocal technique with Marie-Henriette Dejean and Peter Gottlieb of the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris. When the tenor won first prize in the Leopold Bellan Vocal Competition, this honor propelled his career forward, leading to recitals, concerts, opera and oratorio roles all over Europe. Among the recent notable events in Gilbert-Michel Rolle’s European agenda are liturgical drama sponsored by former first Lady Bernadette Chirac and the City of Paris. The Swiss artist was also invited by the Athens festival, and sang next to the Acropolis in the renowned Odeon of Herodes Atticus, in the presence of the Greek Prime Minister. His charm and elegant stature were not lost on the world outside the classical mileu; in Paris Mr. Rolle also worked as a singing model on the fashion runways of some of the world’s leading designers including Yves Saint Laurent and Jean-Remi Daumas. In 2018, Gilbert-Michel Rolle, a Laureate poet, wrote the lyrics and composed a group of songs for voice and symphonic orchestra entitled “Chants Mélancoliques”. It was presented as a World Premiere in Bulgaria with the Pazardzhic Symphonic Orchestra. The success of that concert marked a turn in Rolle’s career. As a HDI Cultural Envoy, he was invited on an international concert tour sponsored by the American Embassy in Moscow, where he performed his new composition at the Rachmaninoff Auditorium and the Moscow Catholic Cathedral. Following the world premiere in Havana, Cuba, of CHANTS DES EQUINOXES with the Havana Lyceum Orchestra conducted by Marlon Daniel, Mr. Rolle recorded the work at the Grammy laureate studio Abdala. He composed and performed the music and lyrics for this cycle of five Melodies for tenor, soprano, and symphonic orchestra, arranged by Jamshed Turel.

SONGS OF THE EQUINOXES explores the constant duality and immemorial struggle between light and darkness, hope and despair. At the equinoxes, day and night each last exactly twelve hours, and this balance permeates both the lyrics and music of the piece. The composition alternates between lyrical, luminous passages and darker, Orphic-inspired themes. The CD, released in June 2026, can be ordered online, while the digital recording is available on platforms including YouTube Music, 7Digital, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Pandora.

Le ténor lyrique suisse-américain Gilbert-Michel Rolle poursuit avec succès une carrière internationale et s’est déja produit aux Etats-Unis, en France, en Allemagne, en Grèce, en Suisse, dans les Caraïbes, en Bulgarie et en Russie. Sa carrière artistique a fait l’objet de nombreux articles, reportages radiophoniques et télévisés , aussi bien à la Télévision Suisse Romande que sur les chaînes russes et américaines. De beaux débuts au Carnegie Hall de New York lui ouvrent de nouveaux horizons, tout en élargissant son répertoire aux oeuvres de compositeurs américains qu’il marie avec bohneur à son programme classique d’airs italiens, Lieder allemands et Mélodies Françaises. Ces deux concerts au Carnegie Hall intitulés “Musical Voyage” seront suivis d’une tournée artistique dans plusieurs villes américaines telles que San Francisco,New York, Princeton, Las Vegas et Washington. “Musical Voyage” deviendra ensuite le titre du CD enregistré par le ténor au Town Hall de New York. ( CD en vente sur ce site) Gilbert- Michel Rolle est né en Suisse où il obtient un Master en Lettres à l’université de Fribourg. Il s’installe ensuite à Paris où il décroche un D.E.A. en Histoire de la Musique à l’université de la Sorbonne. Tandis qu’il approfondit sa technique vocale avec Marie-Henriette Dejean et Peter Gottlieb du Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, il remporte dans la Capitale française un 1er Prix au Concours National de Chant Léopold Bellan qui sera suivi de nombreux concerts en Europe. M Rolle chantera notamment à La Cathédrale Américaine de Paris, dans le cadre d’une production musicale sponsorisée par Bernadette Chirac et la Mairie de Paris. Invité au Festival d’ Athènes, l’artiste suisse-américain se produira dans le prestigieux Théâtre Erodos Atticus, en présence du Premier Ministre grec. En 2018 Gilbert-Michel Rolle, un poète lauréat, compose les paroles et la musique d’un recueil de mélodies pour Voix et Orchestre Symphonique intitulé « Chants Mélancoliques ». Cette oeuvre sera présentée en Première Mondiale en Bulgarie avec le Pazardzhic Symphonic Orchestra. Le succès de cette composition marque un tournant dans la carrière du chanteur : Gilbert-Michel Rolle est désormais invité, en tant qu’Ambassadeur culturel, à effectuer une tournée internationale sponsorisée par l’Ambassade des Etats-Unis à Moscou . Il chantera sa nouvelle composition à l’Auditorium Rachmaninov et à la Cathédrale catholique de Moscou. Après la première mondiale à La Havane (Cuba) de sa composition *CHANTS DES ÉQUINOXES* — interprétée par l’Orchestre du Lyceum de La Havane sous la direction de Marlon Daniel —, M. Rolle a enregistré son œuvre au studio Abdala, lauréat d’un prix Grammy. Il a composé et interprété la musique ainsi que les paroles de ce cycle de cinq mélodies pour ténor, soprano et orchestre symphonique, arrangé par Jamshed Turel.

*CHANTS DES ÉQUINOXES* explore la dualité constante et la lutte immémoriale entre la lumière et les ténèbres, l’espoir et la mélancolie romantique . Aux équinoxes, le jour et la nuit durent chacun exactement douze heures ; cet équilibre imprègne tant les paroles que la musique de cette œuvre. La composition oscille constamment entre des phrases lyriques et lumineuses, et des thèmes plus sombres, d’inspiration orphique.
