The album *Musical Voyage* musically portrays the major cultural and professional influences that have shaped Gilbert-Michel Rolle, from his studies in Switzerland to his training at leading schools of vocal art in Paris, as well as at the Sorbonne. For this CD recorded at the renowned Town Hall theater in New York City, the Swiss-American tenor is accompanied by a string orchestra, clarinet, and piano. With great sensitivity, he takes us on a journey through eras as diverse as the Italian Baroque, German Romanticism, and French Post-Romanticism, concluding in the contemporary American era. Mr. Rolle, who is now a US citizen sings three African American Spirituals.

L’album *Musical Voyage* retrace en musique les influences culturelles et professionnelles majeures qui ont façonné Gilbert-Michel Rolle, depuis ses études en Suisse jusqu’à sa formation au sein d’écoles d’art vocal de renom à Paris, ainsi qu’à la Sorbonne. Pour ce disque, enregistré au célèbre théâtre du Town Hall à New York, le ténor helvético-américain est accompagné par un orchestre à cordes, clarinette et piano. Avec une grande sensibilité, il nous entraîne dans un voyage à travers des époques aussi diverses que le baroque italien, le romantisme allemand et le postromantisme français, pour culminer dans l’ère américaine contemporaine. M. Rolle, désormais résident aux États-Unis, interprète trois spirituals afro-américains dont la beauté profonde et la simplicité ont influencé les compositions d’Aaron Copland.

Gilbert-Michel Rolle composed both the music and lyrics for this cycle of five melodies for tenor, soprano, and symphonic orchestra.
CHANTS DES ÉQUINOXES explores the constant duality and immemorial struggle between light and darkness, hope and despair. At the equinoxes, day and night each last exactly twelve hours, and this balance permeates both the lyrics and the music. The composition constantly alternates between lyrical, luminous phrases and darker, Orphic-inspired themes.
